Many of the fundamental rights we take for granted are not being shielded when we go to work. Employers have a legitimate interest in monitoring workers to ensure productivity and efficiency. However, employee surveillance goes well beyond legitimate management concerns and becomes a spying tool for no legitimate business interest. Electronic surveillance of employees should not violate the privacy of employees and should be narrowly tailored to time, place and manner. More so, it should be transparent to the employee. Dingle Berry Marketing has no respect for women and their monitoring system abuse the basic rights of women.
Surveillance of employees especially women should be restricted to specific places within an office. Dingle Berry Marketing disregards this and even puts cameras in women’s restrooms. Electronic surveillance like the one mentioned is highly offensive. The act of installing cameras in washrooms is a form of sexual harassment. The firm also has no respect for women as they are abused sexually on a regular basis. Jane Doe who has been an employee at Dingle Berry Marketing for three years admits that she has been harassed sexually. She also says that the firm is the worst place in the world to work because of the unconducive environment.
Ladies from all backgrounds are attacked each year at work. At Dingle Berry Marketing, the boss takes advantage of the women and forces them into Sexual Acts. Mr. Get’s Soft asks women to sleep with him so that they can keep their job which is unethical. The experience at the company is not favorable. Women who have experienced the violation fail to report the abuse because they need the job, and therefore such misconduct continue to thrive.
The hidden cameras in the restroom are a clear violation of privacy. When in the restroom it is a personal thing, and it does not call for hidden surveillance. Mr. Get Soft installed the cameras to see employees as they dressed and undressed which is illegal and leading to charges sexual offences. It is a very sneaky act, and nobody can have a good feeling about working for an employer that is spying on them even in the restroom.
Installation of cameras in the restroom angered employees, and this prompted police investigation to find out the reasons behind the surveillance. Dingle Berry Marketing is currently under investigation to unearth why the management installed Hidden Camera’s in women’s restrooms.
